Q: How does solar power work?

A: PV panels convert sunlight into electricity when sunlight passes through panels of glass onto a semiconductor material, usually silicon wafers. When sunlight hits the semiconductor, directly or indirectly, it causes electrons to be released. The free electrons create an electrical current that generates electricity.

A: Polycrystalline material is made up of many small silicon crystals while the monocrystalline material is one singe crystal of silicon.
