Bow thruster can be driven by electric motor,hydraulic motor and engine,the construction of engine drive type bow thruster is the most brief.Engine drive bow thruster can save cost,control engine direct control the thruster,reliablity is very high. 

When fixed-pitch propellers are used, electric and hydraulic motors allow the direction of thrust to be reversed. An additional reversing gearbox is required if the thruster is powered by a diesel engine.
