UIM24004 Constant Current integrated stepper driver1.5-4 amps per phase
Mounted on the back of Nema 17 and 23 stepper motor
24004 is a series of miniature, high performance PARALLEL PORT PWM Chopper Constant Current Bipolar stepper driver. They can be mounted onto 42/57/60/86mm (They are NEMA17, NEMA23, NEMA24 and NEMA34 stepper motor) stepping motors seamless through corresponding flanges. The thickness of these stepper drives is less than 14mm. UIM 24004 is capable for 1.6-4A adjustable current output. Their mixed-decay current control reduces the back-EMF effect under high speed running condition and improves the performance. Except the UIM24002 takes 10-35VDC input, UIM240xx series stepper driver can work with 12 to 40VDC input.. Enclosures of the UIM240xx stepper driver are made of die-cast aluminum which provide a rugged and durable protection and improve the heat dissipation.

Selecting driver type
The performance curves at the beginning show the effect of the driver on the system. If only low stepping rates are used and the use of gearing is not a solution, the unipolar L/R-driver offers the lowest cost for the electronics for a given output torque.
As demand for output power from the stepper increases, more-effective drivers offer the best price performance ratio. The best motor utilization is achieved with the bipolar constant current driver and this driver is the obvious choice for all highpower applications.
For applications in the low- and medium-power range, several alternatives exists. If system efficiency is important, then the bipolar constant current driver is the best choice. This driver offers higher flexibility in selecting the motor winding, since both the chopper voltage and the current in the winding can be changed to get the desired pull-out torque curve from the motor. Powersupply
design gets easier and powersupply losses decrease since regulated supply normally is not needed for constant current drivers.
If minimum cost for the driver electronics is the most important design criteria, rather than the over
all system performance, then the different unipolar driver can be the best choice.
