Overhead line fitting

1. DETAILEDREQUIREMENTS:

The equipment will be in accordancewith the in the schedule of requirements.

1) Rolled steel sections flats, bolt andnut bars brackets shall, unless otherwise approved consist of mild steel to thelatest issue of BS. steel shall be free from blisters, scale or other defects.Thomas process steel will not be acceptable.

2) Angle and channel sections shallconfirm to the latest issue of the latest issue of BS.

3) Bending of flat strap should becarried out cold.

4) Dimensions shall be subject to thefollowing tolerances, unless otherwise stated.

2. Galvanising:

Galvanisingshall be applied by the hot dipped process .The preparation for galvanising andgalvanising process shall not effect the mechanical properties of the materialsbeing coated.

Drillingpunching cutting bending removal of burrs and all machining shall be completedbefore galvanising.

Thezinc coating shall be smooth clean and of uniform thickness and free fromdefects. The preparation for galvanising and the galvanising itself shall notadversely affect the mechanical properties of the coated materials.

Allgalvanised steel which has been cut, drilled or worked on site shall be paintedwith an approved zinc rich paint.

Theaverage thickness of the zinc coating shall be equivalent to not less than0.61kg/m2 of zinc for all surfaces, except steel wires. Galvanising will betested in accordance with the appropriate BS or equivalent standard in order todetermine that it complies with this requirement.

3. Welding:

Weldingshall be carried out in accordance with the latest issue of BS. After weldingand before galvanising, welds shall be thoroughly cleaned, particular attentionbeing paid to the prevention of entrapment of slag and spatter. Sand blastingis the preferred method of cleaning weld prior to galvanising.
